Nate Hofer

Nate Hofer (he/him) is a Kansas City-based artist who merges roles as a graphic designer, photographer, and musician. He holds BFAs in painting and graphic design from The University of Kansas. Born in Africa to Mennonite conscientious objectors of the Vietnam War, he embodies a commitment to peace and social consciousness. Growing up in the midwestern United States during the Cold War of the 1980s, Hofer experienced the psychological impact of the looming threat of nuclear war. Today, his artistic practice focuses on decommissioned nuclear weapons in the Midwest, addressing issues of arms control and non-proliferation.

Hofer’s exhibitions span both solo and group shows in the Kansas City area. His series “One and a Half Acres” earned him a 2021 Global Peace Photo Award in Vienna, Austria.
